What is Agneepath Scheme?
Soldiers will be recruited for 4 years in the Indian Army, Navy and Airforce. The soldiers who will be recruited will be named Agniveer. After 4 years, 75 percent of the soldiers will be sent home. The remaining 25 per cent Agniveers will be appointed as permanent jawans. Its process will be decided in which ‘Agniveer’ will apply to be permanent.
Who will be recruited under Agneepath scheme? For whom is this plan?
Agneepath scheme is only for jawans. This scheme will not apply to officers. This scheme will be for the personnel below the rank of Service Officer. The new scheme has been brought in place of open recruitment of existing jawans. At present, apart from General Duty, there is open recruitment for the posts like Clerk, Store Keeper, Tradesman, Nursing Assistant. The current recruitment process of soldiers in the Army, Navy and Airforce will not change.
That is, the selection of Agniveers will be done only through the existing selection process. At present, officers are appointed for 10 years through short service commission in the armies, which is extended up to 14 years. No changes have been made to this arrangement.
What will be the qualification
- Age Limit – 17.5 Years to 21 Years will get a chance.
- The rules for recruitment of soldier level in Army, Navy and Airforce will remain the same. For example, for the recruitment of General Duty (GD) soldier, the educational qualification will remain class 10th pass.
- 10th-12th pass youth will get a chance in different categories.

In the next 90 days, 46 thousand recruitments will be taken out under the Agneepath scheme. There will be 40 thousand in the Army, 3500 in the Airforce and 2500 in the Navy. Agniveers will be recruited on merit basis through a nationwide recruitment process. What will be the salary of Agniveer?
Every Agniveer will get 30 thousand months salary in the first year of recruitment. Agniveer’s salary will increase to 33 thousand in the second year, 36.5 thousand in the third year and 40 thousand rupees in the fourth year. However, 30-30 percent will be deducted every time for the retirement package from their salary. For example, 30 thousand rupees are to be received in the first year. But out of this only Rs 21 thousand will be given to him. The remaining 30 percent i.e. 9 thousand rupees will be deposited in Agniveer Corps Fund. The government will also put the same amount (9 thousand rupees) in this fund.
Opportunities for women
However, only youths will get a chance to recruit in the Indian Army. The Air Force and Navy have announced that under this scheme, girls will also be recruited as Agniveers.
What facilities will be given to Agniveers who are relieved of duty after 4 years? Will I get pension?
Will not get pension. Service fund package will be available. For this fund, 30 percent of the monthly salary of Agniveers will be deducted. The government will deposit the same amount. A service fund package of Rs 11.71 lakh will be given to 75 percent of such Agniveers who are relieved of duty from the army after 4 years. There will be no tax on this. Apart from this, they will be helped to start another job through skill certificates and bank loans.
What will happen to the youth thrown out of the army after 4 years?
The central and state government will give priority in employment to the youth who are released from army duty after four years of service. They will get priority during recruitment in CAPFs and Assam Rifles. Union Home Minister Amit Shah made this announcement on Wednesday. Apart from this, the UP government, Uttarakhand government and MP government have announced to give priority to these youth in their police recruitments. The Haryana government has said that it will give priority to these 75 percent Agniveers in government jobs and 25 percent will get permanent jobs.
What happens if Veergati is attained during 4 years of service?
All Agniveers will have a non-premium insurance cover of Rs 48 lakh. In case of death in the line of duty, an additional ex-gratia amount of Rs 44 lakh will be available. In addition, the unserved portion for four years will also be paid to the family along with the service fund.
What happens if you become disabled?
Compensation will be given on the basis of percentage of disability. Rs 44 lakh for 100% disability, Rs 25 lakh for 75% disability and Rs 15 lakh for 50% disability.
